My problems started when I would get a green screen all of a sudden. Then the connection to my USB hard drive would cut out half way through recording. I updated to latest firmware and did all resets. Although I don't get a green screen any more I still get all other problems such as a freezing screen, USB cut outs, and being told I am on a scrambled channel when turning off and on the unit brings back a picture. Just now my box cut out on a recording and no doubt I will need to turn the machine off and on again to get it to work. I even changed my external HDD as I thought that as the problem. The problems are now every day, literally. I will either turn it on to find the scrambled message, or screen frozen, or a blank screen as though not connected to TV, these are all sorted by turning off the plug and back on again, well, sorted until about another 12+ hours. Also the USB drive connection cutting out during recording is about 1 in 3 recordings.
I am using it with a legit S*y card, not ethernet. I had around a year where there were no problems at all, so I know this is not common of the machine. Does it just mean I need to buy a new one ? Can you think of any similar units that can easily take a legit S*y card with ability to add box numbers to get premium channels from the card ?
