So there's two fill valves to replace in a local bungalow - toilet cisterns. The stopcock is seized and, after half an hour digging in the hole in the street for the utilities isolator I gave up. However, I want the job so it's turn on the tap and stick my thumb under - bugger, too much pressure.
Got round it by turning ALL the taps on full-bore - now I can stop the flow with my thumb :)
Make ready, old towels, isolator already in bits, all tools to hand. Neck off the line with a circular pipe cutter, thumb over the end, get the nut and olive ready...
...on the pipe, isolator on, grab the wrenches and nip it up. Job done.
Being brave or completely nuts helps ;)
