Using a usb stick from scratch on openvix

I have a vu solo & would like to use a usb stick for epg & other things. Tried mounting it but no joy. Formatted usb on pc says fat32.
strange thing is usb stick works fine to flash images.

Is there a plugin or guide to make formatting & mounting a usb stick work on vu solo running openvix 3.0 image.
